WSU offers a pre-engineering transfer program in partnership with Worcester Polytechnic Institute. More information about these programs can be found at https://www.worcester.edu/Articulation-Agreements/. Qualified students at WSU must meet all standards for transfer admission to WPI detailed below. Information about admissions and application requirements for transfer students and about the program can be found at https://www.wpi.edu/+transfer. WPI reserves all rights to make admissions decisions in its sole discretion and in accordance with its policies and procedures on transfer admissions.

  • Guaranteed Admissions Standards:
  1. Successful completion of the WSU pre-engineering curriculum; and
  2. Minimum 3.3 GPA or higher at WSU; and
  3. Successful completion of one (1) college-level precalculus or calculus 1 course; and
  4. Successful completion of one (1) college-level laboratory science course.
  5. All admissions materials (see below) have been submitted and satisfy WPI requirements.
  • Admission Standards: WSU students who have a minimum 3.0 GPA or higher and have successfully completed one (1) college-level precalculus or calculus 1 course and successfully completed one (1) college-level laboratory science course may be offered admission to transfer to a bachelor's degree program at WPI at WPl's sole discretion.
  • Admissions Materials: Students must submit all transfer application materials required by WPI by the published deadline for entry into the desired term or academic year, including:

  1. The WPI Transfer Application. There is no application fee for the WPI Transfer Application.
  2. A Letter of Recommendation from any WSU instructor or advisor. The Letter of Recommendation does not impact eligibility for any WPI scholarships or need-based financial aid.
  3. Final high school transcript (or high school equivalency diploma) with proof of high school graduation. High school academic performance does not impact the admissions decision.
  4. WSU transcript.
  • Course Transfer Guarantees:
  1. Most WSU courses with grades B- or better will receive at least three (3) credits at WPI upon transfer.
  2. Most WSU courses in science, technology, engineering, and math courses completed more than five (5) years before the student's enrollment date at WPI will be reviewed by WPI for credit on a case-by-case basis, at
  3. WPl's sole discretion.
  4. WSU courses with a status of "incomplete" or "pass" will not be credited at WPI.
  5. All course transfers will be determined at WPl's sole discretion.

Transfer Pathway

The WSU pre-engineering curriculum consists of 18 courses as listed in the table below, including two electives to be selected from the second table.

The letter abbreviations in the first table header correspond to the following Bachelor of Science degree programs at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Checkmarks denote that the course will count toward the specified degree's requirements. Final review and confirmation that a course will fulfill a degree requirement will be determined by the degree requirements outlined in the undergraduate catalog at the time of matriculation to WPI.
